MICHAEL SKAKUN AT THE MIND’S LIMITS: EXILE, MEMORY AND IDENTITY Michael Skakun, the author of two wartime narratives—“On Burning Ground: A Son’s Memoir,” an interethnic psychological thriller that captures his father’s survival as perhaps the ultimate chameleon; and of the forthcoming “Tattered Silk: A Eurasian Odyssey,” his mother’s wartime coming-of-age story—will discuss the existential imperative of memory, the vocabulary of forms and symbols that help the human being survive extremity. He will also examine the often indissoluble links between exile, displacement and identity. ![]() ![]() Tuesday, February 14 @ 6 PM Bowery Poetry Club 308 Bowery (Bleecker-Houston) F Train to 2nd Ave / 6 train to Bleecker/ $ 10 Admission www.bowerypoetry.com Tickets $ 10 The Russian-American Cultural Center (RACC) provides permanent cultural representation to NYC’s Russian émigré community through innovative and versatile art exhibitions, performances, and literary events.
