PAVEL LEMBERSKY The bilingual reading from a newly released book A Unique Occurrence just released by The Russian Gulliver Publishers (Moscow). Russian Bookstore No.21 174 Fifth Ave (between 22nd and 23rd St), Manhattan Thursday, October 29, 6:30 PM Pavel Lembersky, a New York based Russian-American author and journalist will present new collection of short prose. Lembersky graduated from The University of California at Berkeley with a degree in comparative literature, did graduate work in film at San Francisco State University, and worked on film projects with Jonathan Demme and Spalding Gray, among many others. He writes his prose primarily in Russian and his screenplays primarily in English. He wrote two collections of short stories in Russian, River #7 (New York, 2000) and The City Of Vanishing Spaces (Russia, 2002). His work appeared in The Anthology of Short Stories (ACT, Moscow, 2000). His short stories have been translated into English, German, and Finnish and have appeared in literary magazines in Moscow, New York, Munich, Jerusalem and Helsinki. The German translation of Fluss #7 (Frankfurter Verlagsanstalt, 2003) was featured at the 2003 Frankfurt Book Fair. His short stories in English translation have appeared in the Words Without Borders.org magazine of international literature, as well as in Zeek and Calque magazines.He also covers the New York literary, theatre and film scene for the Moscow magazines Foreign Literature and Teatr, and wrote book reviews for the now-defunct Russia! magazine, and co-hosted a nightly radio talk show in New York City in 2000-2006.
