The inaugural exhibition of more than 40 Ukrainian paintings of the realist and socialist realist genre never before seen publicly in the U.S. The paintings are from the Collection of Jurii Maniichuk and Rose Brady. Ukrainian-born American collector Maniichuk purchased them directly from the artists or their families, or from Ukrainian art institutions, in the mid-1990s.

Sunday, September 16, 4 p.m., Ukrainian Institute of America, featuring Alexander Motyl, writer, painter and professor at Rutgers University-Newark; New York-based painter and graphic designer Hilary Zarycky, and Lyudmila Lysenko, senior lecturer in art history, Ukrainian Academy of Fine Art and Architecture, Kyiv.
