Nina Kossman is a bilingual writer, poet, translator of Russian poetry, painter, and playwright. Her paintings and sculptures have been exhibited in New York, Philadelphia, and Montreal. Her published work includes three books of poems in Russian and in English, two books of short stories (one, in English, and the other, bilingual), an anthology she put together and edited for Oxford University Press, two volumes of translations of Marina Tsvetaeva’s poems, a book of her own poems interlaced with her Tsvetaeva translations, and a novel. Her English poems and short stories appeared in a wide spectrum of literary magazines in the US, Canada, and England, and have been translated into Greek, Japanese, Hebrew, Spanish, Persian, and Dutch. Her Russian poems and short prose were published in Russian literary journals in and outside of Russia, e.g.  Znamia, Ural, Volga, Novyi Zhurnal, Novyi Bereg, Interpoezia, Artikulyatsia, Sreda, etc. Her plays have been produced in London and off-off-Broadway. The recipient of a UNESCO/PEN Short Story Award, an NEA fellowship, Kernodle New Play Award, and grants from Foundation for Hellenic Culture, the Onassis Public Benefit Foundation, and Fundación Valparaíso, she lives in New York.
